DIY Invitation Templates from Blonderland

Today I have the pleasure of having my very talented friend Lisa join us with a DIY invitation tutorial. Check out more of her creative side at her daily "creation a day" blog Blonderland.

Hello future brides and wedding enthusiasts! For all of you DIY-ers
out there, I thought I'd share a couple of invitation templates. When my husband and I got married just over two years ago, we decided to design and print our own invitations. We ended up coming up with two sets, one for each side of the family. Here's a modified version of what we sent out as the more traditional invitation set:

We bought nice 8 1/2" x 11" cream-colored cardstock and color coordinated envelopes at Paper Source [hyperlink to http://www.paper-source.com/] in Los Angeles, we printed everything out on a friend's color laser printer, and carefully used a heavy duty paper cutter to cut everything down to size. We printed up clear labels for the addresses when we mailed the invitations out. Easy as pie, and we saved a bundle!

Tips: Carefully count the number of sheets of paper you'll need to buy
(keeping in mind that you'll be able to get two invitations and two reception cards per sheet and four RSVP cards per sheet), and then buy a few extra sheets of paper! You're probably going to have a few of misprints and accidentally crooked cuts even if you're meticulous.

Please email me at
lisa@blonderland.com if you'd like to use my files as templates for your own invitations! I can send them as editable files to be altered in Photoshop or Illustrator. (If you want me to actually enter your names and information, we could negotiate a small fee.)

If you want to know more about me, feel free to check out my daily
creations on my blog [hyperlink to http://blonderland.blogspot.com], and my illustration portfolio [hyperlink to http://blonderland.com].

Happy DIY-ing!
